Quick Summary
Introduction
You cleared the online test for Bank of Baroda LBO, but your application can still get rejected in one minute at verification. This happens to experienced bankers every year.
The reason is simple. As per bank of baroda lbo eligibility, you need minimum 1 year of post qualification experience as an officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank as on 01.08.2026. You must also prove it with an employer certified experience certificate and job profile. If your job profile does not match the work of a Scale I officer of Bank of Baroda, the bank rejects the application at any stage. The decision is final.
This guide explains what counts as valid experience, what fails, the exact certificate format to collect, why BOB LBO applications get rejected, and who among ex BOB staff cannot apply. Read it fully before you fill the form or attend the interview.

What Counts as Experience?
The notification uses one clear line. You need minimum 1 year of post qualification experience as an officer in any Scheduled Commercial Bank listed in the Second Schedule of Reserve Bank of India only.
Post qualification means experience gained after you passed graduation. Experience before graduation does not count, even if you worked in a bank.
| Counts as valid | Fails and leads to rejection |
|---|---|
| Officer post in a Scheduled Commercial Bank like SBI, PNB, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank | Clerk, assistant, customer service associate or any clerical cadre work |
| Officer work after graduation, total of 12 months or more as on 01.08.2026 | Officer work of less than 12 months in total as on 01.08.2026 |
| Experience in public sector banks and listed private sector scheduled banks | Work in NBFC, cooperative bank, payment bank, small finance bank, fintech or insurance company alone |
| Short stint of less than 6 months counted only if it is part of your current ongoing job | Short stint of less than 6 months in a past organisation counted separately |
Three points need special care.
First, clerical experience never counts. Many candidates worked as clerk for two years and then as officer for eight months. They are still not eligible, because only officer months count.
Second, small pieces do not add up in the way many expect. If you worked for four months in Bank A in 2024 and then left, those four months will not be counted for eligibility. Only if those four months are part of your present continuous job will the bank consider them.
Third, the bank name must be in the RBI Second Schedule list. If you worked only in a cooperative bank or NBFC, you are not eligible even with an officer designation.
Experience Certificate Format
The notification does not accept self declaration. You must submit an experience certificate or job profile certified by your existing or previous employer.
What the certificate must show
Ask your HR or branch head to issue the letter on official letterhead with seal and sign. It must clearly mention these six items.
- Full name, employee ID and designation, with officer grade or scale mentioned
- Name of the bank and branch or office of posting
- Date of joining and date of relieving, or the word continuing if still working
- Confirmation that the post is officer cadre in a Scheduled Commercial Bank
- Main duties performed, like customer service, account operations, credit processing, deposit mobilisation or compliance work
- Name, designation, signature and contact details of the issuing authority with date
Pro Tip: Collect a separate certificate from each employer. If you worked in two banks, get two letters. Do not combine them into one self made summary.
Extra proofs to keep ready
Bank of Baroda asks for supporting employment proof at interview and verification. Keep originals plus one self attested copy of each.
- Appointment or offer letter showing officer designation
- Latest salary slips and document showing CTC breakup
- Relieving letter from past employer
- No Objection Certificate if you work in government, PSU or nationalised bank and the rules require it
- Resume, photo ID, date of birth proof and education certificates
Upload clear PDF files within 500 KB each during the online form stage. Blurred scans are a common reason for delay.
Why Applications Get Rejected
Bank of Baroda clearly says it can reject the application at any stage if the job profile does not match substantially with the job profile of a Scale I officer. The decision is final and no request for review is accepted.
These are the top failure modes seen during verification.
-
Job profile mismatch. Your letter says officer, but duties show only back office data entry, sales only without banking operations, or IT support without branch banking work. The bank expects officer level branch work like customer service, account handling, loan documentation, KYC and audit compliance, and business development.
-
Only clerical proof. Candidates submit clerk experience letters and hope the total years will be counted. The notification directly bars clerical cadre experience.
-
Missing employer certification. Offer letters, salary slips alone or self written experience summaries without HR seal and sign are not enough. You need a certified experience certificate plus job profile.
-
Wrong cut off calculation. Experience is counted only up to 01.08.2026. If you completed one year in September 2026, you are not eligible for this cycle.
-
Multiple state applications. You can apply for one state only. If you submit more than one application, only the latest valid application stays. The rest are treated as cancelled and the fee is lost.
-
Category certificate errors. OBC candidates without non creamy layer clause, EWS candidates without valid Income and Asset Certificate, or certificates not in Government of India format face rejection at interview.
Warning: Do not wait till the interview to collect letters. Past employers take weeks to issue relieving letters and certified profiles. Start the request as soon as you apply.
Ex BOB Staff Rules Explained
This rule surprises many insiders. Bank of Baroda bars certain present and past staff from applying for LBO 2026.
You cannot apply if you fall in any of these groups as on 01.08.2026.
- You work now in Bank of Baroda in officer cadre. Current officers of the bank are not eligible.
- You work now in Bank of Baroda on contract basis. Current contract staff are also not eligible.
- You resigned from an officer grade post in Bank of Baroda within the last three years. The three year period is counted up to the cut off date.
- You exited Bank of Baroda while working on contract within the last three years.
In short, if you left BOB as officer or as contract staff after 01.08.2023, you cannot apply in this cycle. If you left before that date, check the notification conditions and keep relieving proof ready.
Outsiders with officer experience in other scheduled banks have no such bar. They can apply if they meet age, education, experience and local language rules.
