This recruitment is officially called CRP CSA XVI. CSA stands for Customer Service Associate, which is the new name for the Clerk post in public sector banks. The name has changed, but the cadre, duties, and selection pattern remain the same.

Note these dates carefully. IBPS does not extend the last date, and late fee payment is not accepted.

IBPS has released indicative state-wise and category-wise vacancies for 2027 to 28. The final allotment will depend on actual vacancies reported by banks, but this list shows where your real competition is.

Where Are Most Posts

Vacancies are uneven across the country. The top five states hold more than half of the total posts.

At the other end, some small States and Union Territories have very few posts. For example, Lakshadweep has only 11 posts, Ladakh 6 posts, Mizoram 17 posts, and Andaman and Nicobar 18 posts. If you apply in these places, vacancies will be limited and cutoffs can still be high due to low posts.

As per Annexure I of the notification, 10 banks have currently reported indicative vacancies. Union Bank of India is marked as NR (Not Reported) at the time of notification. The final count may increase when it reports its vacancies, but provisional allotment will be based on actual vacancies available during 2027 to 28.

What Does Customer Service Associate Mean

CSA is simply the new official designation for the Clerk post. Earlier notifications used the term Clerk or Clerical Cadre. Now IBPS uses Customer Service Associate to match the service-focused role in branches. Your work will still include customer dealing, cash handling, document verification, and account related services. The pay scale, allowances, and growth remain linked to the clerical cadre. The notification mentions the starting basic pay and regular pay scale structure for CSA, with allowances as per bank rules.

Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply

Check these conditions carefully. Your eligibility is judged as on specific dates mentioned in the notification. False claims or failure to produce documents at joining will lead to cancellation even after provisional allotment.

Nationality

You must be either:

• A citizen of India, or
• A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
• A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01 January 1962 with intent to settle permanently, or
• A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with intent to settle permanently

Candidates in categories other than Indian citizen must have a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India.

Age Limit (as on 01 August 2026)

• Minimum age: 20 years
• Maximum age: 28 years
• You must have been born not earlier than 02 August 1998 and not later than 01 August 2006 (both dates inclusive)

Age Relaxation

Note: Relaxation for SC, ST, OBC is allowed on a cumulative basis with only one of the other categories (PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, or widows etc.). No change of category is allowed after registration and after the edit window closes.

Educational Qualification (as on 21 August 2026)

• A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Government of India, or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government.
• You must have a valid mark sheet or degree certificate proving you are a graduate on the day you register, and you must enter the exact percentage in the online form.
• Computer literacy is mandatory. You must have a Certificate, Diploma or Degree in computer operations or computer language, or have studied Computer or Information Technology as a subject in High School, College or Institute.
• You must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the local language of the State or UT you apply for. Details are in the Local Language Proficiency Test section below.
• Matriculate Ex-Servicemen who have completed not less than 15 years of service and have obtained the Army Special Certificate of Education or equivalent Navy or Air Force certificate are also eligible, provided the certificate is dated on or before 21 August 2026.

Percentage Calculation

IBPS calculates percentage by dividing total marks obtained in all semesters or years by aggregate maximum marks in all subjects (including honours, optional or additional optional subjects) and multiplying by 100. The fraction is ignored. For example, 59.99 percent is treated as less than 60 percent. If your university uses CGPA or OGPA, convert it to percentage as per university norms and keep documentary proof ready for document verification.

IBPS Clerk Application Fee and Edit Window

Application Fee (inclusive of GST)

• Payment must be made online only between 01 August and 21 August 2026 using debit card, credit card, internet banking, IMPS, cash card, mobile wallet or UPI.
• Bank transaction charges for fee payment must be borne by the candidate.
• Fee once paid is not refunded and cannot be kept for any other exam.

Correction or Edit Window

After the closing date, IBPS will open an Edit Window for 2 days to modify or correct the online application. Exact dates will be announced on ibps.in after 21 August.

Important rules for the edit window:

• Only candidates who submitted a complete application with fee payment within the registration period can use this window.
• You can correct and resubmit the modified application only once. Check every field carefully before submitting the corrected form.
• You cannot edit these fields even in the edit window: Name, Email ID, Mobile Number, State or UT field in vacancy, State or UT field in correspondence and permanent address, Post, and Nationality. These are treated as final.
• Category change is allowed only in limited combinations. SC, ST or PwBD can change within SC, ST or PwBD. General, EWS or OBC (NCL) can change to General, EWS, OBC (NCL), SC, ST or PwBD. If you change from General, EWS or OBC to SC, ST or PwBD, the fee difference is not refunded.
• Correction fee is ₹200 inclusive of GST for all categories. This is separate from the initial application fee and is non-refundable. Only the latest modified application after payment of correction fee will be treated as valid.

How to Apply Online at ibps.in

Applications are accepted only through the official IBPS website. There is no offline mode. The official apply link is ibpsreg.ibps.in/csaxvijul26 linked from www.ibps.in under CRP CSA.

Step-by-Step Process

1. Go to the official IBPS website at www.ibps.in and click on the Home Page link for CRP CSA and then on “CLICK HERE TO APPLY ONLINE FOR CRP Customer Service Associates (CRP-CSA-XVI)”.
2. Click on CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION and enter your basic information. A provisional registration number and password will be generated and shown on screen. You will also get them by email and SMS.
3. Save your data using Save and Next. You can reopen the saved data with your provisional registration number and password to edit particulars if needed. But once you click COMPLETE REGISTRATION, no change is allowed.
4. Upload your photograph, signature, left thumb impression, handwritten declaration, SSC or SSLC or 10th standard certificate, and certificate as mentioned in Clause K (ix) if applicable, as per the exact specifications below.
5. Capture and upload your live photograph through webcam or mobile phone during registration. The system offers a QR code scan option for mobile capture.
6. Indicate the State or UT you want to apply for. This choice is irrevocable. You can apply for vacancies in only one State or UT. You will also select your preference order for the 11 participating banks at this stage. This order cannot be changed later.
7. Optionally, use DigiLocker integration to provide access to Aadhaar and educational documents on a voluntary basis.
8. Verify all fields very carefully before final submission. Name and father or husband name spelling must match your certificates.
9. Pay the application fee online through the integrated payment gateway. Wait for the server intimation. Do not press Back or Refresh to avoid double charge.
10. On successful payment, an e-receipt will be generated. Take a printout of the e-receipt and the system generated online application form. Keep your registration number and password safe. Do not send the printout to IBPS or any bank.

Warning: An incomplete application without proper photograph, signature, left thumb impression, handwritten declaration, 10th certificate, or unsuccessful fee payment will be rejected as invalid.

Handwritten Declaration: Exact Text

You must write the following text in your own handwriting in English only with black ink on white paper. It must NOT be in capital letters. If typed by someone else or written in another language, the application will be treated as invalid. Candidates who cannot write may type the text and put their left thumb impression below it.

“I, (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.”

Document Specifications to Avoid Rejection

IBPS will not allow you to proceed if any file does not meet the specifications. Keep scans clear, not smudged or blurred.

Common rejection reasons: Photos with shadows, blurred signatures, thumb impression not uploaded at the right place, or handwritten declaration in capital letters. Preview the uploaded image and re-upload if it looks unclear before you click Complete Registration.

Exam Pattern and Selection Process

IBPS conducts the selection in three stages. You must clear each stage to move to the next.

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (Qualifying)

Objective test for 100 marks in 60 minutes with separate timing for each section. You must qualify in each of the three tests by scoring the cutoff decided by IBPS.

• Adequate number of candidates in each category, as decided by IBPS, are shortlisted for the Main exam based on Prelims scores.

Stage 2: Main Examination (Merit Deciding)

Objective test for 200 marks in 125 minutes with separate timing for each section. Marks obtained in the Main exam only are considered for final merit listing. IBPS converts Main marks out of 100 for provisional allotment.

Negative Marking and Normalisation

• Penalty for wrong answers: One fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question is deducted for each wrong answer in both Prelims and Mains. No penalty if you leave a question blank.
• Scores are normalised using the equi-percentile method if the exam is held in multiple sessions. Scores are calculated up to two decimal points.

Stage 3: Local Language Proficiency Test and Provisional Allotment

• After the Main exam, IBPS prepares state-wise and category-wise cutoffs. Candidates high enough in merit, based on actual vacancies reported by banks, are provisionally allotted to one of the participating banks based on merit cum preference, reservation policy and administrative needs.
• Candidates who produce a 10th standard or above mark sheet evidencing study of the specified local language will not need to take the language test.
• Others must appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) after qualifying the Main exam or provisional allotment but before joining. This test is conducted by the allotted bank or an independent body, is marks based and qualifying in nature. Candidates who fail are disqualified and will not be offered appointment.
• If two candidates score the same marks, merit is decided by date of birth, with the senior candidate placed higher.
• A reserve list of about 30 percent of vacancies under each category may be kept. If banks report additional vacancies within the validity period of one year, candidates from the reserve list may be allotted. This does not guarantee allotment.

One State Only: Read This Before You Choose

This is the most important decision in your IBPS Clerk application.

• You can apply for vacancies in only one State or UT. The option once exercised is irrevocable. You will appear for the exam in a centre in that State or UT, though IBPS may allot a centre outside your chosen State for administrative reasons. Your candidature will still be considered only for vacancies in the State you applied for.
• Local language proficiency is mandatory. You must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the specified local language of that State or UT, as listed in Annexure III. You must opt for one language from that list at the time of application.
• If you do not have proof of studying that language in Class 10 or above, you will have to pass the Local Language Proficiency Test after the Main exam. If you fail this test, your allotment is cancelled, even if you cleared Prelims and Mains.

What Happens If You Choose a State Without Language Knowledge

Do not select a high vacancy state like UP (1731) or Karnataka (1414) only because it has more posts if you are not comfortable with its local language. The notification lists languages like Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Urdu and others by State. For example, Karnataka requires Kannada, Maharashtra requires Marathi, Uttar Pradesh allows Hindi or Urdu, and Kerala requires Malayalam. If you cannot prove study of that language and then fail the language test, you lose the job. Choose the State where you have both competitive vacancy and language strength.

Documents, Biometrics and Call Letters

What to Bring to the Exam

You will not be allowed to appear for Prelims or Mains without:

1. Valid call letter for that date and session
2. Photo identity proof in original bearing exactly the same name as on the call letter, plus a photocopy
3. For Main exam, the duly authenticated or stamped call letter of the Preliminary exam plus its stamped copy of ID proof

Accepted photo IDs include PAN Card, Passport, Permanent Driving Licence, Voter Card with photo, Bank Passbook with photo, Photo ID issued by a Gazetted Officer or People’s Representative on official letterhead, ID card issued by a recognised college or university, Aadhaar or E-Aadhaar with photo, Employee ID, or Bar Council ID with photo. Ration Card and Learner’s Driving Licence are not accepted.

You must also bring one additional photograph (same as pasted on the call letter) and the photograph pasted on the call letter itself. Without it, you will not be allowed to appear. IBPS advises retaining about 8 copies of the same uploaded photograph for later stages.

Biometric and Photo Verification

Your photograph and biometric data (right thumb impression or otherwise) may be captured and verified at different stages. The captured photo is matched with the uploaded or live photo. Do not change your appearance. Wash off ink, mehendi or any coating before the exam, keep fingers dry, and immediately inform the test centre authority if your right thumb is injured.

IBPS may also conduct online Aadhaar verification of candidate or scribe at different stages. Keep a valid Aadhaar card ready.

Rough Sheets and Discipline

Rough sheets are provided at your desk. You must submit them before leaving the hall. Any unruly behaviour, use of banned items like mobile phones, Bluetooth, calculators, or sharing of test content can lead to cancellation, debarment and criminal prosecution under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
